- This is the earliest known Europa S2 to exist (540651). It is a transition car from the S1 to the S2 model. It has the early style body with the low front end, single wiper, no wart turnsignals and push button doors, but with an S2 removable frame and power windows.
- Not runnning and needs lots of work but appears to be quite complete. Good windshield, frame looks good and has been repainted at sometime. Renault non-crossflow engine (free but not running) and 4 spd trans. Body has some star cracks and minor damage from storage. Period alloy wheels. Some spares available.

- Complete frame off restoration completed last fall. Everything is new or reconditioned. I do not have the engine compartment insert that goes above the transaxle, however this is not that hard to find. I dare say this is among the best you will find in an early Europa. I have a large stack of receipts to go with the car, along with a box of spares, including a period dealer installed radio, which I have not reinstalled. The bumpers are off the Lotus as can be seen in the pictures. These can be easily put back on there are no dents in them but I would re-chrome them to make them blend with the rest of the car. This was a quality restoration right down to using the correct color on the frame when the body was off.

- 20 valve blacktop 4AGE engine. Very early S2 with single wiper, door handle cutouts and no warts. It has the marvelous Pels 4AGE conversion with 5 spd 395 transaxle. Same weight distribution as the original but 170 HP. The ECU is fully connected with O2 sensor so the variable valve timing works as designed and incredible fuel mileage. New shocks, adjustable front suspension, adjustable camber bars, fuel cell, electronic speedo, new carpet, rear disk brakes, GT6 front brakes, stainless door hinges. Great stereo with custom 10" sub behind the passenger seat. Mechanically excellent, solid chassis, fair interior, poor paint, good body. Currently licenced and driven regularly (more than 3000 miles this year).

- I have owned the Europe since 1977 ( yes, it's a Europe )
- In the first two years I started the restoration. The car was completly in parts, but then I stopped with the restoration. I built a Hot Rod. Then, my Lotus was stored for a long time. In the last year, I started my restoration once more. I think that the car will be finished in two years. The chassis is new from Banks, also the shell. The engine is a Gordini and will receive a Megasquirt Injection. Gearbox is 5 speed from a Renault Fuego Turbo. Rear suspension is modified with disc brakes. Discs are original Europa front, Calipers with handbrake from Audi. Driveshafts and axles come from a VW Beetle (aircooled type). The body was not perfect enough for me. The hood incl. rear screen was on the driver side 10mm too deep. Then I had cut the hood from my old shell incl. windscreen frame and I laminated the part together with the new body.

- On 14/5/1973 I purchased a yellow Europa Chassis No. 54/0760 Eng. No. 0835 from a Ronald Donaldson.
- The car was not going and had suffered an engine fire with most of the rear bonnet burned and also some damage to the rear of the roof and rear window area. I restored it in the next few months and registered the vehicle with the registration No. LOT-000 at Morwell, Victoria on 8/8/1973.
- The car was used as my main transport around town and for country trips etc. I was also involved in competition car rallying in 4 cylinder Fords at that time. Although I was impressed by the balance and handling of the standard Europa it was really not fast enough to get the adrenaline going so I spent some time thinking about how to get the car to accelerate faster and also improve its top speed. I do recall that the Victoria police were using the Ford Falcon GT 351 V8 vehicles which could do about 125 M.P.H. and I wanted to be able to beat that just in case I had a problem with them. Fortunately the need never eventuated (unlike some others).
- I decided in the end to re-power the vehicle with a 13B Mazda Rotary engine (No. A43839 ) which I obtained from a damaged RX4 vehicle. To my knowledge this was the first time this conversion had ever been attempted and I had to design and build everything to do the job from scratch. The vehicle then went back on the road as my normal road car and I continued to use it for many years. I spent some time improving the sound insulation and ultimately it became a very potent but comfortable road car capable of getting from A to B as quickly as anything else could in those days on public roads. I remember having plenty of throttle left at 135 MPH (218 k.p.h.) but the problem was that the front end of the vehicle became very light at that speed and the aerodynamic instability really did get the adrenaline pumping. I eventually sold the car still registered as LOT-000 to a young baker (or was it a butcher) David John Wilson of 78 Magpie St in Ballarat on 17/2/1982. The car was still going well at that stage except the rotary engine was well worn and very smoky but it still performed impressively despite the smoke trail behind.
- Barry Rowe purchased the car from David Wilson after David damaged the car in an accident and the drivers door and rear corner were damaged. Barry commenced a complete restoration (back to standard specs) but sold the car as a rolling chassis with no engine or gearbox. The body was fully repainted in "Monza Red" or a similar colour and sold to a senior army officer in Canberra who intended to restore the vehicle to standard specs. Barry also sold his blue Europa (which he had raced with a 17TS 5 speed box and an ex-Renault Rally Team Gordini engine) to help finance his entry in a London to Sydney rally in the early 1990's. Barry did not know who now has the LOT-000 rego no. but it appears the plates were re-issued to somone else after the registation on 54/0760 expired.
- Recently a friend of mine noticed at an Historic Racing Car meeting at Phillip Island, that a Lotus Elan was now sporting the LOT-000 number plate so maybe this person would know where 54/0760 now is.

- Today I took delivery of a 1969 Lotus Europa S2 Type 54, chassis 54/0844 today, Saturday, October 1, 2011. The car was purchased privately from a Chicago Lotus Club member, Terry Rosser, who resides in Dyer, Indiana. While under Terry's 26 year ownership, the car has undergone a body off frame restoration and upgraded to a Renault Fuego hemi engine, twin Weber 40DCOE's and a five speed gearbox.

- Disassembled, but appears to be complete. The original engine is there, plus three 807 blocks with crossflow heads (bear with me here, I've never owned a Renault engine, and I really have no idea what these numbers mean, but I WILL figure this stuff out). It also came with a set of Cosmic mags, plus the original wheels and hubcaps.
- The body is in pretty good shape, better than my S1 was. A few cracks and holes to repair, but nothing major. A weekend's work, rather than three months of daily crack repairs. Obviously, it will also need paint. It looks like the car was originally painted green, but has been changed to a sort of brown.
- The chassis, and many suspension and brake parts are rusty, as usual, but I've dealt with that disease before.

- I have had a Europa since 1973. It is registered as a 69 and was built August of 68. I am the third owner and knew the second owner who had it from 71 until 73. It was absolutely original when I got it and it has not changed much since then. I did a complete rebuild in 1980 but it has lived indoors unused but dry since 86. I have 3 engines for it. The original and another non-cross flow. The third is a 16TS cross flow which is currently installed. Mileage is about 46k miles. It has lived most of it's life in London Canada where I bought it and it is currently stored. It also enjoyed living in Montreal for about a decade.
- Back when I club raced (Datsun 510) I used to take the Europa out for laps around the Mosport circuit. It also enjoyed that immensely.
- It seems to be a little bit of a hybrid, having had plex quarter side windows, round "button" door handles on outside, single wiper, no running/turn indicators on the front (just headlights, the turn indicators are small rectangular and located on sides of fenders), the black logo on front. Tailights are S2. I'll try to send photos some day. Currently I am in California and have not even seen the car for six years :(

- This is my parts car but I think the body is the best one of the three. Norm and I bought this for $300 a couple years ago and sold about $900 of unwanted parts and kept the rest. I became sole owner when Norm liquidated his lotus interests. This car is red and almost completely stripped of parts. I have a title that is dated May 9, 1975 that shows the seller as Paul K. Gibrae (?? fuzzy), conveyed on that date to Paul D Kessler of Groton, Mass. On August 18, 1985, it was sold to a trust company (official owner) to obtain a loan for Angelyn Deitrick and her husband (name unknown). Husband died and she continued to drive the car until sometime in the early 90's. Then it sat until Norm and I bought it a couple years back. I have no plans for this car.

- We bought the car after someone had half re assembled the car about a year ago. From our under standing the car has been off the road for at least 15 yrs. Chassis has now been stripped and sandblasted. Body has been sanded down to base. Original colour may have been blue. Assembly will start as soon as the chassis has been repaired. Engine is in pieces but we have found new pistons and liners at a local spares shop ( probably been there for 30 yrs) and are now sourcing bearing shells.

- About 1976 after Barry (Ellis - Current owner of 701024177PR) had moved to Newry, I came across another Lotus Europa 54/1151 (red this time) and as it was cheap due to its run-down almost undriveable condition. I thought Barry might be interested in it as he had apparently been impressed by my yellow Europa (540760). He said yes and I bought it for him sight unseen. This vehicle had already had an engine conversion with a 1600 cross-flow Ford (Kent) engine with extractors and twin side-draught Webers and Barry soon got it going properly and I recalled did reasonably well in some local hill-climb events etc. with it. But after driving my rotary Europa it still wasn't powerful enough so Barry then did his own rotary conversion this time using the R100 Mazda 12A engine. As Barry was more interested in competition use with his vehicle he didn't spend as much effort in making the car as comfortable as mine prefering instead to keep the weight down and hoping for better outright performance. I vaguely remember Barry entering the car in races at the Winton circuit and blowing it up but I can't remember much detail and he ultimately sold the vehicle to a bloke in Melbourne in July / August 1979.
- Barry and I would be interested if anyone can give us any information on the present whereabouts of both 54/0760 and 54/1151.

- Restored to as close as possible to original. 3rd this year in concourse at Shannons Eastern Creek Classic 1961-70 period. I was up against a Morris 1100 that I'm sure was built in an operating theatre. I'm 4th owner. 3rd owner was Steve Hewitt of Karang Victoria for over 20 years. He was the one who trashed the left front corner in 1983. Parked the car in a shed and left it there until I bought it as a wreck in 2003. He thinks the 2nd owner worked as ground maintainence for Ansett at Tullamarine airport and cut the rear wheel arches to fit fat tyres for track days. Wheel arches now as per normal. No knowledge of who bought the car originally. Weber & extractors fitted by Australian importer.

- The original chassis (from the factory) was +54/1160+, when I bought the car the chassis was and still is +54/1719+. (the chassis was changed very early in it's life, still trying to track down its early history. It was from a Europa in the car club).
- The engine (from the factory) was +1235+. Some time between 1991 and 1992 (on the rego papers) the engine no. was 770528604. When I picked the car up the engine no. had changed to 8070342536.
- The paint (from the factory) was Blue, some where in it's early life (probably when it's chassis was changed) it was re-painted Yellow. When I bought it, theyellow was rubbed off and it was grey primer. It has now been painted Laser blue (a Lotus Elise 2002 colour).

He bought it from someone (70 y old guy) who imported the car from UK in 1990 (original it was a rhd) and converted it to lhd. Dutch registration from mei 8 1990. The car is a daily driver and in good condition, improved everyday.

- I bought the car from a gentleman in Luxemburg, WI. The car was somewhat together but mostly it was taken apart. The engine block and trans were still in the car, but the rest of the parts were in boxes. See pictures. I picked up the car with a friend, brought it to my home where my son and I proceeded to dismantle virtually all the components that make up this auto.
- I became a member of the Fox Valley British Car Club in Oshkosh, WI where the car currently occupies space. I have been working on a complete rebuild, not a restoration. I plan on making this a dependable, fun driver for my son and I. I am currently finishing up the tear down, ordering parts, painting and will be rebuilding soon. As I stated, the body has been repaired and painted and is currently waiting for the frame to be finished.
- A friend said he would rebuild the motor but that is another story in itself. And no I don’t have a motor yet to install. I need to work on that.

- This is a modified Europa that has a very different look than others on the street, this car has great potential and could be completed by anyone with some degree of mechanical ability. The car essentially needs a motor transplanted into it and a transmission with brackets/shifting linkage to make it work. The car was built up in the late 70's - early 80's by John Berger of Vancouver, WA, a local driving instructor and racer with Team Continental. The car utilized a fuel injected Volkswagen 1.8l engine mounted to an Audi 4000 5 speed. Other modification this car has are rear disc brakes, a vw radiator, additional RH custom fuel tank (21gal total), and a 2nd brake pedal for left foot braking. I talked to John recently, and he said he would be happy to share more pictures and give some advice on further improving some of the racing-oriented modifications. As the car sits, the old 1.8l engine and Audi transmission have been removed and will be included with the car, this engine is seized up but the tranny seems ok. With a VW 1.8t engine installed, the 1,400lb car would have 160hp+ and will MOVE! The body is in great condition, the only mentionable damage is where the driver's door handle is attached, see picture. This would be an easy fix. The paint is oxidized and has some bubbles that indicate that there is some moisture underneath the paint in places, it really should be repainted to restore this beauty to her original glamour, the glass is good. The second picture in the group is of this same car some years ago, like I said a new paint job is in order.

With this engine installed, the 1,400lb car will have a 160hp+ and this thing will MOVE! The paint surface is oxidized, and should be repainted to restore this beauty to her original glamor, the glass is good. Keep in mind this car has been sitting covered for 20 years and will gladly take as much loving as you will give, it is in very good condition for its age.

- I am selling this car for a friend although I have watched him rebuild this over the last couple and can attest to the the workman ship of this beautiful example of a rare car, especially in this kind of condition. The Europa has the Gordini Head with a perfromance racing cam and side Draft Webber. The tranny is a 5 speed, 395 NGI racing series box. The suspension is in good working order with new bushings and rear adjustable control arms and a removable stainless steel cross bar. Koni shocks on all 4 wheels. Brakes are rebuilt and work perfectly. There is custom made stainless steel exhaust system.

- Originally purchased in San Francisco, California in late 1969. I purchased this Lotus in May 1977 in Monterey, California from the original owner. Over the next 3 years I drove it daily. The original 1565 CC engine suffered a failure from a piston skirt, which was quite common in that design. I had a Renault-Gordini 1565cc 807-20 engine imported from France. The displacement remained the same, But it had a HEMI Head with Twin Weber 45DCOE Carburetors and Tuned Exhaust Headers resulting in a great increase in horsepower and torque. I drove the Lotus cross country in 1982 to Massachusetts. I then purchased a new car for daily driving. The Lotus was Yellow at birth and repainted Red in 1984. All of the front & Rear suspension was rebuilt including Koni adjustable shocks and an Adjustable Rear Link system. I drove the Europa less and less as time went by due to having very little spare time from my job. This Lotus Europa has spent all of it’s time since parked in a garage. It was never operated in snow or rain. Included with the Lotus are many spare parts. A 4 speed transaxle and bell housing, a set on rear suspension trailing arms, new set of Brembo ventilated front disc rotors, a set of Twin Cam Fuel Tanks, 2 doors, 2 additional wheels and other smaller parts. A new windshield was installed at the time I stopped using it, as was the dash-board. The original interior was also replaced with Twin Cam rug, Oatmeal seats & console. An Oil Cooler was installed along with a second engine cooler radiator in the front nose of car. Vehicle is stored in Methuen, Massachusetts directly off of Interstate Highway 495 @ Exit 46. Total mileage on the vehicle is less than 50,000. Total miles on New Engine is about 5,000. The Lotus had not been on the road for over 20 years. It is complete but needs the brakes and other systems tended to first.

- It has been a long job, very long, the first schedule was based on a two months and a half time. It ended up to be nine months, no comments, I started to disassemble the car in July 2009 and let say I finished at the end of March 2010.
- The car was six weeks at the painter, meanwhile I reassembled the two doors.
- I started to reassemble the car on the 12th of February, I built a new fire wall, and change part of the transfer pipes, it has been difficult to find the good bends to be able to fit them from the front, one full morning spent on that. I also moved the engine a bit backwards, the reverse contact was touching the double link suspension system that I bought from Banks. The right doors took me three hours and a half to adjust on the car even with the new Banks hinges, the left door only half an hour, who knows why. Not been a professional, a lot of things took me double time, also because the first time was the learning process, as for the side door windows seals for example.
- The reassembling took me fifteen days and a half in two periods, I started the car the 10 of March, to my surprise the engine started after 5 or 6 attempts, now the car is back on the road, I still have to fix few things, but it is good to drive it again.

- Five weeks ago the car left the body shop to get a new paint, it should be back tomorrow December 11th, how exiting. I am still working on the interior, finishing the crash-pad, tried before yesterday to glue the vinyl, very unsuccessful, start again next week. the seats are finished. Will reassemble the car in February, will make also a new insulation on the fire wall and changing the transfer pipes.

- Weathered but not rusty
- I bought the car from Steve F., the ex-president of Lotus West, the Los Angeles area Lotus club. Steve used it for autocross and had done a lot of tweeks to make it perform better and took care of the problems that crop up in Europas. Steve blew the head gasket around 2002, took the head off and left the car parked outside. In late 2007 Steve put the car, along with boxes of spares and performance parts on Craigslist for $1500. The photo looks horrible, the seat pans are rusted and the engine has extensive corrosion. Other than that it's in very good shape. Future plans are for a drivetrain transplant to compete as a SCCA XP class autocrosser.

- This is a 1969 Lotus Europa S2. It is missing the engine, the transaxle, the front window and most of the interior. The person I got it from was stripping it out to build a racecar. As you can see by the pictures, It also needs a bit of pant and fiberglass work. The holes where the front turn signals were has been fiberglassed over. It does have the full front suspension, a brand new set of four brand new Kumho 165/70 13 tires and some used rear shocks that look to be Spax which might be rebuildable. It also has one original set of keys. The car comes with a clear, signed California title so getting it licensed after the restoration shouldn't be a problem. And believe it or not, I actually have some maintenance records and the actual dealer sticker for the car. It was sold from Bill Young Sports Cars in Montrose, California back in '69 for the total price of $4,635 and the sticker does go with the car.
- I was going to do a full restoration on this car, but my job situation right now and the fact that I also have two other project cars sitting in the garage means this will have to be a project car for somebody else to restore. It does need a lot of work but I am selling it cheap.

- I have a Lotus Else Europa under restoration ( enclosed pictures, The wing mirrors and bumpers are missing on the photo) The car is in fact the Else europa in the Book "Lotus Europa gold portfolio" with the nr. plate UNG 121G and the chassis nr 541745.
- I wrote to Lotus and got the answer:
- Your Lotus Europa S2 with chassis number 54/1745 was indeed sold to J.A.Else & Sons, the original engine number was LCS 1486. It may be worth checking the engine number against what is in the car now to see if it has been changed. We have no record of what "Else" options the garage fitted, only that the car was painted yellow here at Lotus as part of production.

The car was a full stage 5 spec, the Naca duct is missing on the photo in the book but had been done later. The engine has also been changed. I bought a new R16 crossflow engine made by the "Renault Guru" Arne Berg with twin 45 Dellortos, racing cam and a free flow silencer system etc. etc. (ca. 170bhp). Í would also try to build the original engine so I would like to buy the Else inlet manifold and the Else cast-alloy rocker cover.Photos |

- Engine runs very strong. Transmission shifts very smooth. Brakes are in perfect working order. Exterior color is a bright yellow with solid green pinstripes that go the full length of the car. Interior is a tan/camel color with tan carpet. Tachometer is functioning along with all of the vehicle lights. Power windows and power engine cooling fans are in working order. Brand new 195/45 R15 Ventus K102 78V low profile tires with new 15-inch KONIG polished aluminum wheels. The tan covering on the dash and door panels fully cover, but will need some work to look perfect. There is one small crack in the fiberglass above the rear passenger tire about 3 inches long. The odometer and speedometer do not function. The air cleaner is missing from the engine.

- After three and a half years and a great deal of help from this group my S2 is road worthy registered and insured! It was on the pavement today. I say two because the back half of the body is a 1969 S2 VIN 54-1767, while the rest of the car is a 1970 S2 VIN 7006190531R. I picked it up in pieces from Naples, FL. The Lotus Company archivist tells me that VIN 1767 left the factory June 16, 1969 and was sold by Lotus East, Millerton, NY. VIN 0531R left the factory September 22, 1970, in Royal Blue colors and was sold by Lotus Canada...maybe that's why there were all red tail lights in the parts box! The 1767 VIN plate was attached to the vehicle dash, but the plenum plate, body and doors all were marked 0531. Also the engine and transaxle serial numbers matched the plenum plate. What a great project leading to even a greater first ride with many more to come.

- I picked up the car at the factory and drove it around the UK for 1 week. I then shipped it home. At the time I was living in Utica, NY. I now live in Easton, PA but I have no idea where the car is.
- During the summer of 1970 I campaigned the car on the autocross circuit winning SCCA's area 11 championship for solo 2. In 1971 I converted the vehicle to a full blown race car and campaigned it on both SCCA's National and Regional circuit for several years. In 1976 I won the NYSRRC championship in the DP class. The car was sold in 1978 to an exotic car dealer in WhitePlains NY. The guy's name was Nick Soprano. After that I lost track of the car.

- Bought from Norm Vandal Sept 2005. Norm bought from Albert (Ray) Varney around 1999. Varney bought in 1976 from original owner (unknown). Car was driven by Varney until 1978 (approx) when he started a frame-off restoration. He got about 80% done and stopped. Eventually sold to Norm who had intended to put a Toyota engine and NG3 in with lots of other mods. Norm burned out on the project and sold me the car with a miriad of other parts. He sold the engine and tranny along with a twin link to some guy in Alaska. I will sell the original engine and put another 225-250hp 1796cc Renault hemi in the car with cage and stripped down as much as possible. (eventually)

- Here we have a S2 Europa which has been owned by the same person for the past 37 years during which time it has always been garaged and used on sunny days. The car has been maintained to the highest of standards in all respects the chassis was replaced by a Spyder Enginnering type fewer than two thousand miles ago at which point all of the brakes were overhauled and a new clutch was fitted it had a new radator fitted and all coolant hoses replaced along with the gear linkage joints being renewed. The car is finished in striking Lotus yellow and is sitting on period style alloy wheels with new tyres and complemented by black seats an brand new oatmeal coloured carpets.

- This unique car is a replica of the original Supercar built by Lotus in collaboration with parts supplier GKN, called GKN47D (Google Lotus GKN47D). This original car of which only one was built, had a Rover 4.4L V8, and could do 163mph, 0-60mph 5secs, and 13.1 sec standing qtr. The replica car for sale was built in WA many years ago using an original 1969 Lotus Europa, fitted with a P76 4.4L V8 and Citroen 5 speed transaxle. When purchased the vehicle had been damaged and repaired following an accident but was unpainted. A full restoration/engineering project was undertaken by us on the vehicle with the chassis beng strengthened, a brand new Rover 4.6L (including high performance camshaft) engine being installed, new aluminium fuel tank, new wiring, new gear selection, new cooling system, new adjustable coil over suspension fitted, 4 wheel discs, new windscreen and further fibreglass body repairs undertaken. The engine has never been used. Many dollars and effort were put into this car over 2 years, however due to problems obtaining gear parts to repair the Citroen 5 speed transaxle, the project has remained unfinished, as other projects took precedence. Due to a relocation and change of circumstances, the car is now for sale. In its current state it now requires body prep and painting and installation of either a complete replacement Citroen transaxle or alternately the use of either a Renault, VW or Porsche transaxle. Due to the fact that the car is an unfinished project, it is being sold at an enormous discount on what has obviously been spent on the car. The engine alone is not far short of the asking price for the complete car.

- Before we begin, please forgive my collosal ignorance. This is a Renault engine from a Lotus Europa - that much is certain. The rest I'm not so sure about. If you know anything about these engines, you'll know what you're looking at. The unit was removed from a car that was sent to be restored (not by me) around 20 years ago. The owner ran out of cash as the classic market disintegrated and gave up. So the restoring garage kept what they had and the chastened owner kept what had been removed. He then moved to a flat with no garage/storage and I inherited this and many other bits and pieces for +2 Elan and Europa. I have front and rear window glass for the Elan, for example and many other body parts - the sort of things you'd remove prior to a respray. I have no idea what this engine is like on the inside. If you're interested/curious it can be viewed in Metfield, Suffolk. I could get the head taken off if that would help. Whatever value there is in this is likely in its being an original item.

- The following modifications were carried out during restoration.
- Engine.
- A Renault 807 block was obtained and re-worked to accommodate oversized liners giving a bore of 82.50 m/m and a stroke of 84.0 mm which increased the overall capacity to 1796 cc. The build was completed with a set of forged pistons, a Piper 272 camshaft and topped off with a fully gas flowed cylinder head fitted larger valves and twin 45 Delorto dcoe carbs. Estimated bhp circa 165/170 hp.
- Original gearbox was replaced with an NG-1 5 speed and a 'Banks Europa' rear cross member modification installed.
- Body & Running gear was completely restored and enhancements incorporated a bonded screen, Nacar side vents, twin fuel tanks, up rated disks, callipers and a full width alloy radiator. The car was painted in red & white and finished in 'Gold Leaf Team Lotus' livery.
- Now returned to the road on 24/11/2009 and its performance is stunning.

- I drove a white S2 this afternoon that's been on Craig's List for a few weeks. 65-2185 for the Registry, Jerry, and it has a cross flow with twin 40 DCOEs with a 4-speed. Pluses and minuses - sort of what you would expect - and I haven't checked it thoroughly. The brakes are pitiful, but it seems to handle fairly well. Rear wheel bearings may be okay; I didn't jack up the back of the car.

For now, is enjoyed as is, and I'm thinking of getting it "road Legal" before restoration begins.

- 1565CC engine converted back from turbocharged. Removed the old turbo and Strömberg carburator. Found a 32/32 Weber from a 2.0L and installed it. Gets a little much fuel, but runs better without the turbo. Overhauled brakes and started repairing passenger door. New rear TCA, new rims and tyres on "to buy" list, and will be body off restored at end off year.

- I want to start by saying that I know nothing about these unusual cars. I am listing this vehicle for a friend who does not have a computer. All questions should be directed to him. Condition:- It IS an S2. Warts, door handles, original sailplanes. The paperwork from the PO doesn't exactly clarify anything: the Indiana title lists it as a "71 Lotus, mfr's ID 0177R, type 2S". There is an ID plate (loose) that lists the unit number as 65/2285+, engine #0337, trans #00593. I do have the original Renault engine (totally disassembled, right down to the bare block) but haven't been able to dig down thru the pile enough to confirm the ID number on it. Is the number on the block?
- The black car(?) is confirmed as #0177, no issues there. The red shell carries a tag with unit #7007200580R, vin #0580R.

I have just purchased an immaculate 1969 S2 Europa, VIN 652377 with 43000 original miles. The car was manufactured in October 1969. The previous owner had the car for twenty years and restored and repainted it fifteen years ago. At that time it was "defederalized", lowering it to the original ride height and the rear control arms were modified to allow the rear camber to be adjusted. The car is an immediate driver, only requiring a few housekeeping issues like gluing down carpet and the like. It has been meticulously maintained over the years by the previous owners brother, Ken Miles, who operates Miles Import Car Repair in Edmonton and it has been garaged during the time the previous owner had it.
The original colour is not know (maybe yellow) but it is now a Warm Red and it was a body off repaint. The paint is flawless and has only a couple of stone chips. Mechanically the vehicle is in outstanding condition not requiring any work at all. Get in and drive.- The car has not been driven very much over the past few years as the previous owner's knees are not what they used to be, which was the impetus for selling the vehicle. For insurance purposes the car is being appraised but at this time the appraised value is not known although five years ago it was valued at approximately $12500 Canadian $.
- I will split my fun car time between the Europa and my Mini. Hard to say which will bring the most fun!

- The car appears to be a very early series 2. The windshield is held in by a gasket rather than glued in like the 71 S2 I owned. There is no indication the car ever had external mirrors installed. It has the key mounted in the dash rather than the locking steering column. Unusual at least to me is that the single gas tank is mounted on the right side rather than the left. Every S2 with a single tank I've seen has the tank mounted on the left side and so far I don't see evidence that one was ever mounted there. The car sits relative low for a federal car so it may have had the ride height modified at some point. Of interest in the papers I received with the car was an owners manual and service book for a series 1 Europe in French.
- The car on first inspection looks like it has been the victim on several restoration attempts and bad storage conditions. The right sail area has heavy damage to the inside and at the rear. The piece from the cabin back is broken out. I have the piece but because of the location it's going to be fun to fix. The story is that the DPO once removed dropped a tree branch on it causing the damage which I can believe because of the stress cracking n the right sail area. There's also damage to the right corner of the trunk lid and rear of the roof but these are relatively minor. The motor and transaxle are in the car and the gear box rotates but the crutch is frozen. The motor supposedly was rebuild and running shortly before the current DPO acquired the car but I have my doubts. Motor and transaxle both show a lot of surface corrosion so they may have been cleaned as part of the rebuild effort and left unprotected when the car sat. The carburetor and distributor were taken off the motor. The carburetor I got with the car isn't the correct Solex. It looks like a Holly Weber and will need to be replaced. The current wiring harness is part lotus and part do it your self so the car will need to be completely rewired. The left front wheel is frozen. Most likely the brake is frozen to the rotor.
- The car has Ohio plates on it but has a Wisconsin title.
- Assuming the frame is OK or repairable the plan is to disassemble the car and restore it as a driver with the Renault engine over the next several years.

- The last time it was on the street was 1986. The owner was starting to do some repairs on the car but passed away. The car has been inside since that date. I know the owner had an extra gas tank installed and made some modifications to the engine. As you can see in the picture two Webber carbs have been installed. The master brake cylinder was being reinstalled but it's not finished. The car is being sold as is. The engine is not in running condition! Read on :) After I installed a gas pump it did start, that's it. You can see it's in nice shape. The bumpers are near perfect, no dents or scratches. The interior is in good shape but I see some wires hanging that I wouldn't know what they are for. The one tach was a modification that was installed, looks nice. I have the workshop manual. The car needs work!

- I have been doing a running restoration this last year, still a few bits to do. It has just passed it's MOT. I have recently fitted a Facet electric fuel pump, pertronix electronic ignition, larger wheel studs and nuts, adjustable lower rear suspension, and I have gone over every nut a bolt (they were all loose). Condition:- By: Garry Parrish: I would like to locate my 1969 S2 Lotus Europa. First registered in CA with the tag 099BEK, The Serial Number is 65/2654, Engine No. 0449, and Transmission No. 874. It was originally painted a “special tangerine” color by Lotus. It’s not Lotus “Colorado Orange”, somewhat more red, but definitely orange. It has the Hermes HLR681 kit with high lift cam. I am optimistically using present tense in my description in hopes that it is still milling around happily as ever.

- front suspension being restored to OEM standards; will sport Spax adjustable shocks, lowered springs, OEM bushings, overhauled trunnions, new disks, overhauled calipers, new bearings.
- Original steel wheels and seat pans being sent out for bead blasting and powder coating. Have new upholstery cut and ready to install on seats. Chrome trim rings delivered to NuChrome.
- OEM dash stripped of veneer, am selecting which finish to put on it. May go with a faux carbon fiber overlay, with engraved/filled in legends. Or, may upholster it (taking a page from another lister). Need a new crash pad, which I'm saving up for.
- Rear suspension will be next.
- Will be using the power unit currently in 693R; 693R will get the crate engine and freshened transaxle and upgraded (late run) shift mechanism.
- Using the restored frame completed in 2009; new bushings, engine mounts, etc. already installed.
- Have new kunifer brake line ready to install in frame, along with all new AN
- series hardware to attach bits and pieces; suspension parts will remain the called-out grade 5 bolts.

- up wiring harness at the standby for when the body comes back; as well as banks hinges, cleaned and lubed window motors, fresh window rubber.

- 1969 lotus europa project car. The engine has over $1400 in machine work and needs to be assembled. It appears to be complete with lots of new parts such as je pistons,bearings,gasket set, rings, camshaft, etc. The body has a fair paint job that might be improved with wet sanding and a little tlc. There are a lot of new parts such as carb, headers, exhaust, wiring, weatherstrips, carpet set, mats, suspension parts, heater, and more. The seats have been recovered and look great. All 4 pieces of glass are in good shape. The only things we know that are missing are the bellhousing and 2 main cap bolts with are otc grade 8 bolts. We have located a used bellhousing for $75 plus shipping. There are too many parts to list. There is no way to ship all this so it must be picked up in hoover, alabama. Check the pictures and if you have any questions just ask and we'll respond quickly. Alabama did not have titles before 1975 models so we have no title. We will provide a notorized bill off sale.

- I was told that it was a barn find from Canada before it was restored. The car is in very nice cosmetic shape. I added new wheel caps, a proper wiper blade, new badges an ash tray and repaired the trunk area. Other areas that need attention are shift linkage, very sloppy and throttle tends to stick. Otherwise this is a very nice Europa.

- One nicely restored 1970 Lotus Europa S2 finished in Lotus yellow paint. One of 9300 made. This is a frame off restoration all fiberglass cracks repaired all panels fit great, door, hood, trunklid all shut nice! Frame blasted and painted, New black interior, Wheels blasted repainted and clearcoated, The trans was gone through, New clutch, Cooling tubes, Brakes, Alt and batt, Rebuilt radiator and heater core, Rebuilt carburetor. The only thing not done on this car was rechrome bumpers but they are straight no dents. The motor is a 1565 cc 4sp code 2148. Trans code 0279. This is a very nice car!

Sold 11/17/09 for $5000 CDN- Titled as a 1970, Lotus Europa. Canadian spec car, body off restoration in the late 1980's , driven for one summer then stored in the garage ever since. The car needs a windshield and the engine is seized from sitting. The car is complete otherwise, all electricals work, door pins not seized, interior could use some work on upper door upholstery at window but otherwise not too bad, seats perfect, carpet faded by sun but would not replace. body needs paint, regular spider cracks in fibre panels, all running gear is good but since the car is based on Triumph underpinnings all is easily available. Tires on steel rims are shot, aftermarket alloy rims included (13"). Full set of manuals included.

- This Europa raced for many years on various circuits around Canada, in the then GT2 which would now be Group 70. The body on this car has been modified with flairs which would need to be removed for production based vintage racing which is what I intended to do but woek finds me way to busy to be able to have this hobby. The body is fairly rough and needs completely restorig. The Engine is a cross flow Gordini with down draft webbers, oil cooler and a custom header. The Engine has nort been started in some time but does turn over. The car came off the track and was running when stored. It is the 4 speed box.

- Just arrived at SportsCar LA. This Lotus Europa is finished in Silver with contrasting black interior. This fiberglass body Lotus is fitted with the popular 1600 Renault Engine. At only 1400lbs, These S2's are quick and responsive. The original color of this Lotus was Primrose yellow. Has the usual weak door hinges that will need to be repaired when the car is repainted. Drivers side door handle needs to be repaired. Electric windows work well. The dash and interior is very nice and original on the car. It has been recently serviced and starts, runs and drives very nicely. The car has been in California all its life and the chassis is totally rust free. - This was at a recent event in New South Wales here at a place called "Wakefield Park". Its is about 150 miles south of Sydney and its was FREEZING cold on August 16, there was sleet falling and there was a prevailing wind and a stream of water crossing the track .
- As you can see I have doing more work on the thing, it now is very stable at high speed (135mph) and stops very well too.
- I have recently replaced the entire rear drive shafts (inner & outer) plus the hubs and the hub nuts. My advice to owners that are having stability problems at speeds around 70mph: its beacause the rear shafts, hubs and splines are worn and are starting to steer the car; so just replace the lot.

- This is a 1969 Lotus Europa that is half restored. I have finished the frame, engine and transmission, and front suspension --all done in 2001. The frame needs a little touch up. The rear suspension has not been done. The seats are in great shape--no rips, cuts, or tears. The interior carpet however needs to be replaced. Door panels are ok. Doors have the usual Europa sag. The body needs to be taken down to the gel coat and then built back up. I have some new parts such as brake pads and shoes and some misc. bushings. I have the engine on a stand so I can run it some while out of the vehicle. Engine has been rebuilt. The engine has a weber carb and I have a solex carb that I bought on ebay. The car has been a restore project for a long time and I have lost interest.

- This car was originally registered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1971 ( I believe. ), and purchased by me in 1975. The car was campaigned for a number of years on the western Canada Autocross circuit and has had a number of minor modifications done for expediency which I now regret. (no modifications have been done to the engine or transmission.)
- The car was a daily driver until 1995, and an occasional driver until 2000, but it has mostly been in the garage since then, with occasional start ups and trips around the block. Cosmetically, it is in poor shape with faded and cracked paint, but it starts and runs well and all the bits and pieces are there (somewhere). I am assessing the condition to see what should be done to put it into better shape.
